This was the case in the United States, but it was actually particularly true in Europe, where labor unrest among bank employees was an ongoing headache. (Financial sector employees were actually some of the most militant of all white-collar workers during this period: because of prolonged strikes by bank employees, Irish banks were closed 10 percent of the time between 1966 and 1976.)
